The Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, while addressing the inaugural session of My Karachi exhibition, held under the auspices of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that Karachi was not only the commercial hub but the whole Pakistan.
He said the government was aware of the problems of businessmen and traders and that the government was positive on addressing the issue of law and order and that he needed due cooperation from the businessmen in that regard.
He said the government will make Karachi the city of lights once again and that it was trying to curb target killing, ransom and terrorism and that these criminal activities will come to an end very soon.
He said that foreign investors could be attracted through My Karachi exhibition and that the government will provide complete protection to the industrialists and traders.
Addressing on the occasion, BMG group chief Siraj Qasim Teli, said that Karachi was not only the commercial hub but the whole country. The businessmen feel insecure because of targeted killings, street crimes and terrorism, the government can establish peace in 24 hours if it is determined.
He said that My Karachi exhibition of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has received a huge recognition within the country and abroad during last few years.
KCCI president Haroon Agar said that participation of local and foreign companies in the event have played an important role in the promotion of economic activity. Apart from local exhibiters, more than 100 foreign traders are participating in the exhibition.
He said that the former president of KCCI Siraj Qasim Teli started the exhibition in his tenure in 2004 and it was welcomed on local and international levels at that time. Hence, The Sindh government plays the role of co-host every year and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan offers its cooperation due to importance and magnitude of the exhibition.
The aim of the exhibition is to portray the image of Pakistan as a peaceful country and specially Karachi as an economic and commercial hub of the country.
Haroon Agar said that multi-purpose goals of trade promotion will be achieved through My Karachi exhibition in 2013.
He said various business aspects had been kept in view while holding this exhibition. It will prove to be an important forum of business-to-business and business-to-consumer relations.
From small traders to big industrialists, FMCG sector, multi-national companies, financial institutions and welfare organizations will display their products in the exhibition.
Apart from Pakistan’s corporate and private sector, hundreds of exhibitors from friend countries are participating in the event.
According to an estimate, about 7,00,000 people are expected to visit during three days of the exhibition.
