The residents of Lahore city on Sunday (July 7) demanded protection after blast in a busy street killed at least five people and wounded 47 others late on Saturday.
The blast hit the street of food shops and stalls in the downtown area popularly known as Anarkali bazar, which was crowded with hundreds of people at the time of the blast.
Police said the bomb was attached to a deep freezer in one of the restaurants and that around half a kilogram of explosive was used in the attack.
The wounded, including women and children, were taken to various hospitals in the city with at least five of the victims in critical condition.
On Sunday, law enforcement personnel surveyed the blast site with sniffer dogs and collected evidence. Shocked residents were concerned about their safety.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
