Like rest of the country, worshippers in Peshawar are busy at collecting Allah’s blessings during the holy month of Ramadan.

 

Tasbeeh or prayer beads are one of the way in which worshippers recite the name of Allah and holy verses through it. Residents of Peshawar are turning more and more to purchase beads or Tasbeeh.

 

Tasbeeh is defined as uttering words or short sentences over and over.

 

Prayer beads are made of wood or stone whereas in modern times olive seeds, ivory, amber, pearls and plastics are used to make beads.

 

Markets are flooded with prayer beads of every type and design.

 

The sellers say that the worshippers make more and more use of beads during Ramadan so its sale goes up.  They say they usually import it from China and it costs from 60 rupees a dozen to rupees three thousand a dozen.

 

The traders say more customers prefer to buy prayer beads from whole sale market.
