DIG CIA, Sultan Khwaja said on Saturday that the Safari Park encounter was genuine.
During a news conference, Khwaja said that criminals placed in CIA custody by the police were not involved in this encounter. He said the encounter lasted for about four hours and it had been shown live on television channels. He said the allegations of a fake encounter were incorrect as the incident had been closely monitored by the reporters. He said that the funerals of those martyred in the incident were attended by CCPO and senior officials.
According to the DIG CIA, the three accused killed during the operation can also been seen in the CCTV video.
The DIG CIA informed the media that the incident was related to the land mafia and the role of the SHO was extremely suspicious.
A DSP was among two policemen killed during the operation against the land mafia on August 15.
Khwaja paid tribute to those who embraced martyrdom in Safari Park incident, saying they sacrificed lives showing valour and gallantry while serving their country.
