blast on the outskirts of peshawar kills two.

A bomb that exploded near a polio vaccination team in the volatile Pakistani city of Peshawar on Monday (October 6) killed at least two people, police said, the latest in a string of attacks against health workers.

Two people were killed and around 20 people wounded, police said. Other police reports suggested up to six people were killed.

According to Bomb Disposal Squad, 4 to 5 kilograms of explosives was used to carry out blast.

According to SSP operations, Najeeb ur Rehman, the bomb was placed directly outside a clinic in Sulemankhel, on the outskirts of the provincial capital of Peshawar.

Bomb disposal squad found another unexploded bomb at the site, which they later diffused.

The dead and injured were moved to Lady Reading hospital.

According to SHO, they had the prior information about the bomb for which they called bomb disposal squad last night and this morning.

Today, it was the third day of Polio campaign in Peshawar when the blast took place.

Peshawar has borne the brunt of much of that violence, with the frontier city near the Afghan border hit by at least four attacks that killed scores in the past month.

Monday's blast appeared to target police who were assigned to protect the vaccination team.
