The Sindh Government to appeal in the Supreme Court over the Sindh High Court’s judgment, which has declared the amendments in the Local Government Act illegal and unconstitutional.
The government took a stance in the appeal that due to changes in the areas and delimitation was imperative step and that’s why Sindh government introduce local government amendment bill.
The Sindh government has a right to make amendments in the Local Government; the ruling of the High Court should be reviewed.
Sindh government wants the local bodies’ election to be held on time and will not file any petition to delay the elections.
Advocate Mushtaq Jhangiri said the petition against the ruling of High court would be filed tomorrow in the Supreme Court Karachi registry.
He said during old delimitation facts and population figures were different and judges of the Supreme Court know the situation of Karachi, so an application for the hearing would be accepted.
He further added that new delimitation requires a lot of time, it is necessary to review the decision of the Sindh High Court for the betterment of the Province.
