At least 13 people were killed and over 22 others were injured on Tuesday (February 11) when multiple blasts ripped through a cinema in Northwest Pakistan.
According to senior police official, three China-made hand grenades were thrown inside the cinema.
Eyewitnesses said the blast were of low intensity and occurred inside Shama cinema located close to ANP’s Bacha Khan center and Radio Pakistan’s local office.
Security forces and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) reached the scene shortly after the incident. Rescue teams reached the location and the injured were taken to Lady Reading Hospital for medical treatment.
Over 100 people were watching the show when the blasts took place.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the blasts and expressed sympathy with the families of victims.
