Doctor Mah Noor Nasser Stable After Acid Attack
Medical officials confirmed that the victim's eyesight has been successfully preserved, bringing relief to her family, colleagues, and supporters.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, announced a civil award for Abdul Razzaq Tareen in recognition of his swift action and efforts to help save Dr. Mah Noor's life immediately after the attack.
The Young Doctors Action Committee has called for a transparent and impartial investigation into the incident. Addressing a press conference in Quetta, committee head Dr. Tahir Musa Khel said that prior to the acid attack, a female doctor working in the gynecology department had reportedly been assaulted and harassed.
According to preliminary investigations and examination of the suspect's mobile phone, the accused, identified as Humayun Shah, a hospital lift operator, had allegedly been harassing and blackmailing Dr. Mah Noor for several months in an attempt to establish a personal relationship.
The doctors' body demanded enhanced security measures for healthcare workers in hospitals across the province. As part of their protest, they announced that outpatient departments (OPDs) and elective medical services at government hospitals would remain suspended indefinitely starting tomorrow.
The incident has sparked widespread concern over the safety of healthcare professionals and renewed calls for stronger workplace protection and accountability.
