Karachi Bans Rickshaws and Taxis
According to Karachi Traffic Police, the measure is part of an emergency traffic plan aimed at preventing severe congestion during the busy Eid al-Fitr shopping period.
Under the plan, commercial vehicles will not be allowed near major commercial hubs and shopping streets during peak hours. In areas such as Tariq Road and Bahadurabad, rickshaws and taxis will be restricted from entering the route between Allah Wali Chowrangi and Ittehad Signal up to Bahadurabad.
Traffic coming from Allah Wali Chowrangi will be diverted toward Noorani, Medicare, and Shaheed-e-Millat Road. Similarly, rickshaws, taxis, and commercial vehicles will not be allowed on Rashid Minhas Road beneath the flyover, while vehicles from Drigh Road will be directed over the bridge toward NIPA.
Other restrictions include routes from Fawara Chowk to GPO, Singer Chowk to Zaib-un-Nisa Street, and Tibet Chowk to Jame Cloth Market, where rickshaws and taxis will also be prohibited.
