US Marines seize Iranian ship
According to CENTCOM, the ship—identified as MV Toskha—was taken into US custody after allegedly attempting to violate a maritime blockade near the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz.
Global maritime tracking data indicated that the vessel’s speed had dropped significantly to just 1.2 knots hours before the seizure, raising suspicions about its movements.
Earlier, former US President Donald Trump stated on social media that US forces intercepted the vessel for breaching the blockade. He claimed the ship ignored repeated warnings to stop, prompting decisive action by the US Navy.
Reports suggest that a guided-missile destroyer intercepted the vessel in the Gulf of Oman. When the crew allegedly failed to comply, US forces disabled the ship by targeting its engine room, ultimately bringing it to a halt before boarding and taking control.
The vessel, reportedly around 900 feet in length, is said to be comparable in size and weight to a small aircraft carrier. The incident has further escalated tensions in an already volatile region, drawing global attention to maritime security and geopolitical risks.
