Karachi to Introduce Smart Traffic Signals
Mayor Murtaza Wahab announced that smart traffic signal systems will be installed across key roads in the city to improve traffic flow and management.
He directed the municipal commissioner to initiate the procurement process for these smart systems at the earliest. According to the plan, the first phase will focus on the Red Zone and I. I. Chundrigar Road, which will serve as model areas.
In the second phase, the project will expand to M. A. Jinnah Road, followed by implementation on other major roads across the city.
The mayor emphasized that alongside infrastructure improvements, strict enforcement of traffic laws is essential. He noted that effective traffic regulation could resolve a significant portion of the city's congestion issues.
This initiative is expected to modernize urban traffic management and ease daily commuting challenges for residents.
