Trump Reviews Iran’s New Ceasefire Proposal Amid Middle East Tensions
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed during a press briefing that the meeting took place earlier in the day, focusing on Iran’s latest proposal aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East.
According to international reports, the discussions included Iran’s suggestion to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. However, the spokesperson declined to provide further details, stating that the talks were preliminary and no official stance has been taken yet.
When asked whether the U.S. is considering the proposal, Leavitt said she could neither confirm support nor opposition at this stage, adding that further details would be shared directly by Trump.
She emphasized that Trump’s “red lines” regarding Iran remain clear, with the safety and security of the United States and its citizens being the top priority.
The development comes after Iran proposed that if the U.S. lifts its naval blockade and delays nuclear negotiations until later stages, Tehran would be willing to engage in ceasefire talks.
