Heatwave Alert Issued in Sindh Experts Advise to Take Precautions
According to weather experts, a heatwave is expected to affect upper and central districts of Sindh from today through May 3. Most parts of the province are likely to experience hot, very hot, and dry weather conditions.
Cities including Jamshoro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore, Ghotki, Sanghar, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur are expected to face significantly higher temperatures during the day.
In Karachi, hot weather conditions are likely to persist until Thursday, with maximum temperatures potentially exceeding 36°C. However, the city is not officially classified as a heatwave-affected area, as it lies in lower Sindh.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department noted that humidity levels may rise up to 60%, making the heat feel more intense than the actual temperature.
Experts have advised women, children, and the elderly to take extra precautions during this period. Residents are urged to avoid direct sun exposure during daytime hours, limit outdoor activities, and increase water intake to stay hydrated.
