Karachi: Agricultural loans for the first time exceed Rs 1,000 billion: Governor SB

For the first time in the country's history, agricultural loans have crossed Rs 1,000 billion.
Banks have been given a target of Rs 1350 billion to provide agricultural loans this financial year. Dr. Raza Baqir, Governor Bank of Pakistan, praised the banks for their efforts to increase the supply of credit to the agriculture sector, which has reached the highest level historically by the end of FY19.
For the first time in the history of Pakistan, agricultural sector loans have surpassed one trillion rupees, Governor State Bank said in its address. He said this while chairing the annual meeting of the Agricultural Credit Advisory Committee (ACAC) in Peshawar. The meeting is part of the State Bank's ongoing efforts to increase agricultural credit in the backward provinces and regions of the country.
Dr. Razaqaqqar urged banks to increase efforts to achieve the standard aspects of the goals set out in the light of the State Bank's strategic change on agricultural credit and key policy initiatives.
