Karachi- 1.5kg Gold Recovered, 71 DNA Samples Collected
According to Deputy Commissioner South, Javed Nabi Khoso, 1.5 kilograms of gold was recovered during the debris-clearing process on Monday. He said the gold was found in a portion of the building where a jewelry shop was located and has been handed over to the shop owner.
Meanwhile, Police Surgeon Dr. Samia Syed stated that samples of 71 human remains and bodies have been collected so far. Through DNA analysis, the identities of 16 victims have been confirmed. She added that the process has become complicated due to severe burning of the bodies, and further details cannot be shared at this stage.
President of the Gul Plaza Management Committee, Tanveer Pasta, claimed that the incident has caused financial losses exceeding Rs. 10 billion. He also stated that the bodies of some victims are still missing.
Director General Rescue 1122 said that 10 to 15 percent of the building consists of areas that rescue teams have not yet accessed. Search operations in those sections are expected to begin today.
