Rain and Snowfall Likely to Intensify Across Pakistan
A new system of rain and snowfall has entered several districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Qalat, Mastung, Kan Mehtarzai, Muslim Bagh, and Chaman, where snowfall began late at night, further intensifying the cold weather.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the second spell of rain and snowfall is likely to continue for the next two days. Authorities have warned that rainfall may cause flash flooding in streams and nullahs in mountainous areas.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued alerts to relevant districts. Heavy machinery along with operational staff from PDMA and the National Highway Authority (NHA) has been deployed on major highways to ensure traffic flow.
A PDMA spokesperson said that snow-clearing machinery and staff are present at Kan Mehtarzai, Kork, Lakpass, Ziarat Road, and other vulnerable points. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel on national highways during adverse weather conditions. Snow removal operations are currently underway.
