Pakistan Allows T20 World Cup Participation
Pakistan has been placed in Group A of the T20 World Cup alongside India, the Netherlands, the United States, and Namibia. As per the tournament schedule, Pakistan’s opening match will be played against the Netherlands on February 7 in Colombo. The highly anticipated Pakistan–India clash was scheduled for February 15 in Colombo, which Pakistan has now decided to skip.
Earlier, sources had indicated that a meeting between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was expected, during which an important announcement regarding Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup would be made.
Sources also revealed that the PCB has prepared a Plan B in case Pakistan opts out of World Cup participation entirely. Under the alternative plan, a replacement tournament featuring Pakistan, Pakistan Shaheens, and the Under-18 team would be organized in Lahore.
