Water Crisis in Karachi
According to a spokesperson for the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation, persistent electricity outages by K-Electric have disrupted operations at the pumping station, severely affecting water supply to multiple neighborhoods.
Officials reported that at 1:30 PM, a sudden power breakdown resulted in the shutdown of electricity at the K-III pump house. Out of four pumps, three were forced to stop functioning, significantly disrupting water transmission to various parts of the city.
The spokesperson explained that abrupt power failures and cable faults repeatedly impact pumping operations, directly affecting millions of residents who rely on the municipal supply system.
Authorities stated that emergency teams have been mobilized and are in continuous contact with K-Electric management to restore power at the earliest. The Water Corporation assured that it is closely monitoring the situation and that water supply will be restored in phases once electricity is fully reinstated.
