Imran Khan jail transfer
Speaking at the Islamabad Police passing-out ceremony, Mohsin Naqvi stated that since Imran Khan was convicted by a court in Islamabad, it is appropriate for him to be shifted to the federal capital’s jail once the facility is completed.
He revealed that the Islamabad jail is expected to be completed within two months and will be equipped with comprehensive medical facilities. “As soon as the Islamabad jail is completed, Imran Khan will be transferred there,” he confirmed.
Addressing the ceremony, the Interior Minister described the occasion as an important milestone for the federal police. He noted that Islamabad previously lacked a dedicated counter-terrorism force, prompting authorities to initiate a specialized six-month training program, which was completed in three months through intensive efforts.
He credited senior officers for successfully training the recruits and announced plans to upgrade training schools in Islamabad. According to him, the upgraded facilities will eventually attract trainees from other regions as well.
Naqvi emphasized the importance of strengthening law enforcement amid ongoing security challenges, expressing confidence that the newly trained personnel would play a crucial role in combating terrorism.
The development regarding Imran Khan’s transfer is likely to draw political attention, given the ongoing legal and political landscape in the country.
