Karachi Narrowly Averts Major Terror Attack
According to CTD officials, the operation was conducted on the identification of previously arrested militants. Azfar Mahesar, DIG CTD, and Irfan Bahadur, SSP CTD, told media representatives that heavy gunfire was exchanged during the raid. The four injured militants later succumbed to their wounds.
The deceased terrorists were identified as Jalil alias Fareed, Niaz alias King, and Hamdan alias Fareed, while efforts are underway to determine the identity of the fourth militant. Authorities stated that the terrorists were killed by firing from their own accomplices during the encounter.
Two CTD personnel — Head Constable Muhammad Yousuf and Constable Raja Junaid — were also injured in the operation and are receiving immediate medical treatment.
Earlier in January, CTD recovered approximately 2,000 kilograms of explosive material and arrested three militants. The recent raid in Shah Latif Town was carried out based on information obtained from those suspects. The arrested militants are reportedly linked to the “Fitna Al-Hindustan Bashir Zeb Network.”
Due to potential further threats, a bomb disposal squad was called to the scene. During a search of the premises, officials confirmed the presence of a large quantity of explosives. Reports indicate that improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were being prepared inside drums at the house. Detonators, detonating wires, and electronic circuits were also recovered.
Authorities stated that the process of defusing the explosives is ongoing, after which the material will be safely relocated. Meanwhile, CTD has set up checkpoints across District Malir and other areas as search operations continue to apprehend any fleeing suspects.
