MWM Protests in Lahore
The demonstration took place in the provincial capital Lahore, where participants marched on major roads carrying placards and banners while chanting slogans. Protesters were also seen performing matam (ritual mourning) during the rally. According to reports from the scene, some demonstrators set property on fire amid heightened emotions.
Addressing the protesters, MWM leader Salman Naqvi strongly condemned the incident, stating that the “enemies of Islam have martyred one of the greatest leaders of the Muslim world,” adding that the act deserves the strongest possible condemnation.
Another local MWM leader, Syed Muhammad Jawad, criticized global leadership and urged rulers to reconsider what he termed proposals to award a Nobel Prize to a “global terrorist,” calling such moves unacceptable in light of recent developments.
