World War III , Claims Former NATO Commander Richard Shirreff
In an interview with an international publication, Richard Shirreff expressed deep concern over the rapidly deteriorating security situation following reported joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran and Tehran’s subsequent retaliatory actions in the Gulf region.
He stated that, as a former military officer, he does not make such assertions lightly. However, he fears that the current global climate bears the hallmarks of a major international conflict. According to him, wars often begin in one region but expand and conclude in entirely different parts of the world.
The remarks come amid heightened hostilities after reports of coordinated military action by the United States and Israel inside Iran. In response, Iran has claimed it targeted key U.S. military installations in Gulf countries.
The situation remains fluid, with global leaders closely monitoring developments amid fears of broader regional escalation.
