Petrol Pumps May Start Closing from Monday
According to the association, the country is facing a severe shortage of petroleum products. Central Secretary General Chaudhry Irfan Elahi stated that petrol supply nationwide has dropped by nearly 50%, while diesel availability has fallen to around 20% of normal levels.
Dealers say the situation could significantly disrupt the transportation sector if immediate steps are not taken to stabilize supplies.
In Lahore, local association leaders including Jahanzeb Malik and Central Punjab President Nauman Majeed urged the government to ensure uninterrupted fuel delivery to retail outlets.
They also criticized authorities, claiming that inspections are targeting petrol pumps rather than supply depots. According to the association, some private companies have allegedly begun stockpiling petroleum products, which could create an artificial shortage in the market.
The dealers have called on the government to intervene immediately to prevent a nationwide shutdown of petrol stations and avoid further disruption to the country’s fuel supply chain.
