Petrol Price Dispute Turns Deadly
According to reports, the incident occurred in the Hajipura area when a customer arrived at a petrol pump to refuel his vehicle. After filling petrol in the car, the customer demanded that fuel also be filled into a separate can.
The petrol pump staff reportedly refused or hesitated, leading to a verbal argument that quickly escalated into a violent fight. During the altercation, the customer allegedly opened fire, killing one petrol pump worker on the spot and injuring two other people.
The injured individuals were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Meanwhile, the suspect fled the scene after the shooting.
Police from Punjab Police have begun collecting evidence and launched a search operation to arrest the suspect.
The incident comes just a day after the Government of Pakistan announced a massive increase of Rs55 per litre in petrol prices, which has sparked public frustration and long queues at fuel stations across the country.
