KSE-100 Index Jumps Over 9,000 Points
Due to the rapid rise and the market crossing the 7% upper circuit breaker limit, trading at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) was temporarily suspended for one hour. According to PSX management, trading was halted at 9:22 AM after the market hit the upper lock and remained suspended until 10:22 AM. Trading resumed at 10:27 AM.
Historically, trading at the PSX had been suspended twice before due to severe market crashes. However, this is the first time trading was halted due to an extraordinary surge in the market.
After trading resumed, the bullish momentum continued. The market recorded a record increase of 10,942 points, pushing the KSE-100 Index to 157,422 points. Later, the rally strengthened further, with the index gaining a total of 11,603 points, reaching 158,083 points.
