Nehal Hashmi Appointed Governor of Sindh
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office media wing, Shehbaz Sharif has sent a summary to the President of Pakistan for approval of Nehal Hashmi’s appointment as Governor of Sindh.
The prime minister also held a meeting with Nehal Hashmi and congratulated him on his new role. The meeting was attended by Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other officials.
Nehal Hashmi, who belongs to Karachi, has had a long association with the Pakistan Muslim League (N). During the 1990s, he served as Adviser on Law and Justice to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
In 2012, he served as the President of PML-N Karachi. Later in 2014, he was appointed as the General Secretary of the party’s Sindh chapter.
Hashmi was also elected as a member of the Senate of Pakistan in the 2015 Senate elections on a general seat from Punjab as a candidate of PML-N. Now, he is set to take on the new responsibility as the Governor of Sindh.
