Petroleum Dealers Threaten Nationwide Petrol Pump Shutdown
During a press conference, association leaders Abdul Sami Khan, Ameer Khan Mehsud, and Tariq Hassan criticized the government’s recent fuel pricing policy. They claimed that while petrol prices have been increased, the benefits have gone primarily to oil marketing companies, while dealers’ profit margins have been ignored.
Ameer Khan Mehsud, President of the association’s Sindh chapter, warned that if dealer margins are not increased immediately, fuel supply could be stopped from the night of March 26. He stated that dealers cannot continue operating at a loss.
Abdul Sami Khan also took a strong stance, saying that negotiations with the government will no longer remain limited to polite discussions and that dealers are prepared to resist if their demands are not addressed.
The association also alleged that oil marketing companies have placed restrictions on the supply of petroleum products, causing shortages of petrol and diesel at several pumps. As a result, some petrol stations are already running dry and temporarily closing operations.
