Eid on Friday Bohra Community Celebrates as Saudi Arabia Announces Eid Date
The announcement followed meetings held at multiple observatories across the Kingdom, where experts reviewed moon sighting reports. After evaluating all data, the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia declared that Shawwal’s crescent was not visible, confirming Eid on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Bohra community has already celebrated Eid based on its own lunar calendar, highlighting the variation in moon sighting practices.
In Pakistan, the official moon sighting will be determined by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which is scheduled to meet on Thursday. A separate non-official committee led by Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai will also convene.
According to predictions by SUPARCO, the Shawwal moon is unlikely to be visible on March 19 in Pakistan, suggesting that Eid ul-Fitr may fall on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
The final decision in Pakistan will be announced officially after moon sighting confirmation, which may result in a different Eid date compared to Saudi Arabia.
