Torkham Border Reopened for Afghan Repatriation Under Tight Security
According to an official statement, the repatriation process began on March 26, 2026, with strict coordination directives issued to key institutions including the Federal Investigation Agency, National Database and Registration Authority, customs authorities, and the National Logistics Corporation to ensure smooth and organized operations.
Authorities emphasized that heightened security measures have been enforced across Torkham, Landi Kotal, and surrounding areas to safeguard the process against any potential threats.
Officials further stated that the movement of refugees will be strictly regulated, with transfers taking place through designated points, particularly the Hamza Baba Camp, to maintain order and prevent mismanagement during the initial phase.
The government reiterated that the initiative reflects its commitment to national security, effective border management, and enforcement of immigration laws, while ensuring the dignified return of Afghan refugees. Security forces and civilian institutions are working in full coordination to implement the process.
