Israeli Mayors Lash Out as Hezbollah Attacks Cause Severe Destruction
According to international media reports, the mayor of Margaliot broke down in tears during an official meeting while describing the scale of destruction in his area. He stated that “everything has been destroyed,” adding that Israel appears increasingly isolated, with no country willing to offer support.
Meanwhile, Avichai Stern, mayor of Kiryat Shmona, openly criticized the government during a high-level meeting with Israeli ministers. Expressing anger, he claimed that Hezbollah had effectively “won” in the current situation.
Stern further revealed that nearly two-thirds of the city’s residents have been displaced, forced to leave their homes due to ongoing attacks. He described widespread infrastructure damage, including severely damaged roads and large craters left unrepaired, leaving civilians without adequate safety or support.
The mayors’ remarks highlight growing internal criticism within Israel as the conflict with Lebanon intensifies. Analysts warn that continued escalation could deepen humanitarian and security challenges in the region.
