Pakistan, China Agree on Special Security Unit
The understanding was reached during a meeting held at the Chinese Embassy in the Diplomatic Enclave in Islamabad, where the ambassador warmly received the interior minister. The two sides held detailed discussions on counter-terrorism efforts, enhanced security cooperation, police exchange programmes, and the broader regional situation.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to hold a business conference in phases to directly engage with Chinese investors. In the first phase, meetings will be conducted with Chinese businesspersons currently operating in Pakistan, while the second phase will focus on potential investors interested in entering the Pakistani market.
Speaking on the occasion, Naqvi announced the establishment of a Special Protection Unit dedicated to ensuring the safety of foreign nationals, particularly Chinese citizens residing in Islamabad. He added that personnel of the unit will also receive Chinese language training to improve communication and coordination.
The initiative reflects Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen investor confidence and deepen economic and security cooperation with China amid evolving regional dynamics.
