US troops Middle East
The deployment comes at a time when President Donald Trump is reportedly considering future actions regarding Iran, including potential military options.
Earlier reports on March 18 indicated that the Trump administration was evaluating plans to send additional forces to the Middle East, raising concerns about a possible escalation and even military action inside Iran.
According to officials, many of the newly deployed troops are from Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Their arrival adds to the already significant US military presence in the region, including Navy personnel, Marines, and Special Operations forces.
Last week alone, approximately 2,500 Marines were also deployed to the Middle East. Additional forces include the headquarters of the 82nd Airborne Division, logistics units, support teams, and a brigade combat team.
While officials have not disclosed the exact locations of deployment, they described the move as expected and part of broader strategic planning.
Sources emphasized that no final decision has been made regarding sending troops into Iran itself. However, the current buildup is seen as preparation for potential future operations in the region.
