Ali Zafar Wins Defamation Case Against Meesha Shafi
An Additional Sessions Court in Lahore, presided over by Judge Asif Hayat, announced the verdict after nearly eight years of legal proceedings. The court ruled in favor of Ali Zafar in the defamation suit worth PKR 1 billion filed against Meesha Shafi.
As part of the decision, the court imposed a fine of PKR 5 million on Meesha Shafi.
The case originated when Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment, leading to a highly publicized legal and media battle.
During the course of the trial, the case saw multiple delays and complexities. Over 8 years, a total of 9 judges presided over the case, while 20 witnesses recorded their statements across 283 hearings.
