Free Public Transport Announced in Islamabad and Punjab
The initiative was introduced on the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, under which all government-run transport in Islamabad will be free for citizens.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi shared on social media platform X that the facility will begin from tomorrow and continue for the next 30 days. He stated that the Ministry of Interior will bear the cost of approximately Rs. 350 million to provide this public relief.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced free public transport across Punjab. Following her directives, passengers will not have to pay fares for services including the Orange Line Metro Train Lahore, Metro Bus Service Lahore, and Speedo Bus Lahore.
Additionally, the Green Electric Bus service will also be free for commuters during this period.
