Nationwide Polio Vaccination Campaign
The campaign will run from April 13 to April 19, 2026, targeting over 10.6 million children across the province. Additionally, around 9.4 million children will receive Vitamin A supplements to strengthen immunity.
More than 83,000 trained frontline workers will go door-to-door to administer polio drops, ensuring maximum coverage. To maintain security, over 24,000 personnel—including more than 2,400 female police officers—have been deployed to support and protect vaccination teams.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Syed Murad Ali Shah emphasized that Pakistan and Afghanistan remain the only two countries where polio is still endemic. He reiterated the government’s commitment to completely eradicating the virus.
He shared that Pakistan reported 74 polio cases in 2024, while 31 cases were recorded the following year. In Sindh, 80% of environmental samples tested positive for the virus in 2025, with nine children affected.
However, there has been notable progress in 2026, with a significant decline in cases. So far, only one case has been reported in Sujawal, and the positivity rate in environmental samples has dropped to 24%.
