PM Shehbaz Sharif to Visit Iran and Türkiye from July 3–5 Foreign Office
During the weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the prime minister will first travel to Iran to attend a condolence ceremony and express solidarity with the Iranian government and people on behalf of Pakistan.
Following his visit to Iran, PM Shehbaz will travel to Istanbul at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for high-level discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and regional cooperation.
The Foreign Office also highlighted positive developments in the Doha talks, stating that Pakistan once again played the role of a facilitator in diplomatic negotiations. Officials noted that talks are expected to resume after the completion of key developments related to the Iranian leadership.
Addressing regional issues, the spokesperson also referred to an international seminar held in Islamabad on the Indus Waters Treaty, where participants rejected any unilateral move regarding the treaty.
According to the Foreign Office, Ishaq Dar reiterated that the six-decade-old Indus Waters Treaty cannot be unilaterally suspended or revoked. The spokesperson further stated that the core issue between Pakistan and India is not terrorism, but concerns over attempts to use water as a strategic weapon.
